WDB Oracle Interface

The Oracle interface module was written by Rosalvo E. Streit (rosalvo@inf.ufrgs.br)

Requirements

To use the WDB Oracle interface you will need perl (version 4.036). The binary is not enough, you need the object file called uperl.o to link oraperl, so you have to get the source and compile perl your self. The Perl4 source is available from :

ftp://ftp.uu.net/languages/perl/perl.tar.gz or
ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/languages/perl/ports/perl4/unix/perl-4.036.tar.Z

You also need oraperl. The oraperl source is availble from

    ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/perl/db/perl4/oraperl/

Oraperl is a set of user-defined subroutines letting you access an Oracle data server using Perl. You will need the Oracle development system to build oraperl.

Configuration

Follow the normal WDB configuration instructions, with the following exceptions :

  • Set $DBI_FILE in the wdb.conf file to ora_dbi.pl.
  • $DATEFORMAT in the wdb.conf file is ignored.
  • Set the first line in the wdb script to oraperl instead of sybperl.
  • You might have to set $ENV{ORACLE_HOME} and $ENV{ORACLE_SID} in the wdb.conf file to you fit your local setup.

Creating FDF's

Currently there has not been developed an Oracle version of mkfdf, so the FDF files will have to be created by hand.
